The arrival of a new shipping vessel is set to boost the operations of Fiji's Fisheries Department.

The new vessel which is a gift to the people of  Fiji from the Republic  of China arrives at the Suva wharf today.

 Director of Fisheries Senaila Naqali said the ship which is a general cargo vessel will be used to visit and monitor fisheries activities in the islands.

The ship's crew members are all locals.
