State lawyer Pita Bulamainaivalu and defense lawyer Filimoni Vosarogo today made their closing submissions to assessors in the final days of trial for Naitasiri high chief, Ratu Inoke Takiveikata.

They both urged the assessors to take into account all evidence that had been presented in court during the two week trial.

Vosarogo reiterated to the assessors that in law his client did not have to prove or disprove anything.

Takiveikata will appear again in court on Wednesday, where residing judge, Justice Daniel Goundar will deliver a summary of the trial proceedings.

Earlier in the day, Justice Goundar ruled against Tagiveikata’s application of no case to answer. He said that that there was sufficient evidence that against him on his charge of allegedly inciting a mutiny in September 2000.

The paramount chief is charged with one count of inciting mutiny between August 6 and September 24 in 2000 where it is alleged that he knowingly incited Captain Shane Stevens and Sergeant Manoa Bonafasio to unlawfully take over Queen Elizabeth Barracks (QEB).
