The three independent MPs who hold the balance of power in the Federal Parliament hope to decide either today or tomorrow which party should form Government.
Tony Windsor, Bob Katter and Rob Oakeshott have spent the weekend considering which party to support.
Labor currently has 74 seats with the help of the Greens and the Hobart-based independent Andrew Wilkie, while the Coalition is on 73.
Mr Windsor said it is still possible both sides could end up with 75 seats so he wants to talk with his fellow independents before deciding which party to back.
“I won't be making a final call until I've really sat down with the other two and talked through it because there is a possibility here that we end up with 75 seats all in a mathematical sense,” he said.
“I've asked people from both sides of the Parliament 'do you want another election?' and they nearly run in fear when you suggest that to them.”
On Sunday the three MPs said they did not feel intimidated into backing a Coalition government.
Opposition Leader Tony Abbott used a newspaper opinion piece to argue that they would be defying their electorates if they supported Labor to form a minority government.
Labor has accused the Coalition of almost trying to intimidate the MPs but Mr Windsor says he does not feel pressured by the comments. “I don't feel intimidated, not by Tony and not by Julia,” he said.
