A Fiji teenager remains in a critical condition following a single-vehicle crash in the western city of Lautoka yesterday in which three people died.

Police said the 17-year-old girl was in the intensive care unit of the Lautoka hospital.

All seven were in a three-tonne truck which went off the road and crashed into a rain tree.

Two people including the driver and a 16-year-old died instantly while the third died on arrival at Lautoka Hospital.

Police said witnesses at the scene of the crash confirmed that everyone on the truck was drunk.

The accident has taken the road death toll to 37 compared to 28 for the same period last year.
