Australia’s acting High Commissioner to Fiji Sarah Roberts left the Australian High Commission complex at midday today on her way to the Nadi International Airport, after being served a 24-hour notice yesterday to leave Fiji.
Accompanied by her husband and two children, Roberts will board a flight to Australia later this afternoon.
Fiji claims Roberts has been involved in “unfriendly acts” and has tried to interfere in Fiji’s internal affairs.
Roberts was served with the expulsion notice by the Fiji government yesterday morning over her role in the cancellation of the Melanesia Spearhead Group meeting scheduled to be held in Nadi next week.
She is the second Australian diplomat to be expelled since last year.
Present to farewell Roberts at the High Commission grounds were diplomats of various other missions to Fiji as well as the entire high commission staff.
