International flights resumes in central

Fiji’s Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama believes the re-introduction of the Nausori-Auckland flight will benefit tourism and stimulate economy growth.

This after Air Pacific’s first flight from Auckland touched down at the Nausori airport yesterday.

“The introduction of jet aircraft services to Nausori airport and the capital city of Suva is an important link to international destinations,” he said.

Bainimarama said this opens up opportunities and gives additional connections for tourist, business people and the travelling public.

“Having direct flights to Suva also mean connectivity flights to Labasa, Taveuni, Kadavu, Savusavu and to the eastern maritime regions,” Bainimarama added.

Air Pacific will fly on a weekly basis from Nausori to Auckland for one month and will increase flights to twice weekly from August.

Air Pacific’s chief executive officer Dave Pflieger said he was extremely pleased to resume jet services into Nausori.

The national carrier brings in over 66 per cent of tourists annually.
