The reduction on jet-ski duty will see a large increase in jet-ski activities in resorts and hotels and boost tourism in Fiji, this according to the president of Fiji Islands Hotel and Tourism Association (FIHTA) Dixon Seeto.
His comments came in light of the 2010 revised budget announcement by Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday to reduce the duty on jet-ski from 32 percent to five percent.
“The reduction on jet-ski duty means a positive impact in the tourism sector on the whole,” he told FijiLive.
“We are hoping this will widen the interest in tourism industry and add more activities of jet-ski,” Seeto said.
He added ‘the jet-ski activities are conducive to our beautiful environment especially the reef areas and will promote the equipment for tourists with fun activities.’
Seeto hopes the Fiji government will later extend the list on reducing more duties on other marine equipment for tourism growth.
