An eight-year-old boy in Nadi has been questioned and released for allegedly trying to poison his 63-year-old grandmother.
Assistant police spokesman Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri told FijiLive the eight-year-old allegedly poured some liquid into his grandmother’s tea on Friday.
“The grandmother made some tea and went out when it is believed the boy added the liquid into the tea,” he said.
“After drinking the tea, the grandmother started feeling ill and went to the hospital,” Sokomuri added.
He said the grandmother was treated but the police took the boy for questioning.
“We are awaiting the analysis report of the liquid poured into the tea and after which we will decide what needs to be done,” Sokomuri said.
Police investigations are continuing.
