Payment through M-Paisa needs a high level of behavioral understanding by people believes the chief executive officer of Basix Group in India, Vijay Mahajan.
Mahajan made this comment while doing a presentation on Microfinance in Fiji at the Reserve Bank of Fiji yesterday. He said that consumers should be aware of this method of payment for sending and receiving money. “For example, if a woman was to make grocery payment using M-Paisa and the outlet that she hopes to make this payment doesn’t accept M-Paisa transactions, it will be useless to the consumer,” Mahajan said. He added that even though the Fiji market is small, the issue can be tackled by offering multiple products through same channel. Vodafone Fiji’s M-Paisa project will be launched by Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama this evening. * Get local and international rugby news & live updates/results on your phone.
