Evacuation centres around the country are now down to seven with 263 people in them, DISMAC has confirmed.
Of this seven, six are located in the east and one in the north.
“People are returning to their homes, the weather has cleared up and the extent of damage is not much on the main islands but quite severe in outer islands like Cikobia, Taevuni and Lau.
“As of this morning, the NZ Air Force aircraft has done one trip up to the north and has taken a Red Cross truck with some more relief supplies,” Blake said.
“The Australian Air Force aircraft has flown to the Eastern division with Commissioner Eastern and undertaken an aerial surveillance there,” he said.
“We also have another assistance being pledged by international missions.”
Also, according to Blake, Red Cross is gearing up operations in the north.
“We still have the boats prepared to depart for Lau, Lomaiviti and the north tomorrow for more relief work,” he added.
