Officials from Fiji’s national disaster management office DISMAC will meet with representatives of donor countries tomorrow to discuss Fiji’s emergency aid needs in the wake of Cyclone Tomas.
Operations officer DISMAC, Anthony Blake said the meeting will be with representatives of the governments of Australia, New Zealand, France and the United Nations.
“They will start their own assessment once the weather clears,” Blake said.
“We will meet with them to present them with our immediate needs. Red Cross is our primary provider on the ground at the moment.”
Blake said although the cyclone is now slowly moving away from the Fiji group, “our key priority is the safety of everyone”.
