A total of 17, 792 people are being housed in 240 evacuation centres throughout Fiji.
In the north there are 123 evacuation centres with 7,513 people, 76 centres in the central division with 3,614 people, nine in the eastern division housing 497 people and 38 centres in the west with a total of 1,568.
DISMAC operations officer Anthony Blake said 89 schools are being used as evacuation centres.
“At the moment, we are looking at how we can house evacuees in other centres so that schools can be cleaned up for operation as soon as the cyclone passes,” Blake said.
