Fiji Police and Social Welfare ministry are remaining silent on the case of a boy who was physically abused by his father earlier this week until his condition improves.
Acting permanent secretary for Social Welfare Govind Sami said they did not want to make any prejudicial statements as the case was now with police.
He did say despite their efforts in conducting workshops on Child Protection around the country, beating cases like the one reported tarnished their progress.
Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri said they would comment once the boy’s condition improved.
The ten-year-old boy was admitted to Lautoka hospital on Sunday after carrying injuries on his body from a beating he received from his father three weeks ago.
