Two-time Emmy Award and three-time Golden Globe Awards winner Alec Baldwin and Grammy and Emmy-winning actor and comedian Steve Martin will host the 2010 Oscars ceremony today.
It’s the second time in the history of Academy Awards that there will be multiple hosts. The first co-hosting took place at the 59th ceremony which was hosted by Chevy Chase, Goldie Hawn, and Paul Hogan.
Baldwin and Martin starred together in the romantic comedy film, “It’s Complicated” directed by Nancy Meyers.
Today’s 82nd Academy Awards ceremony, scheduled for 2.30pm Fiji time, is being touted as the biggest awards ceremony ever in the U.S.
‘Avatar’ and ‘The Hurt Locker’ have received the most number of nominations followed by ‘Inglorious Basterds’ with 8 nominations, ‘Precious’: based on the novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire and ‘Up in the Air’ with six nominations, ‘Up’ by five nominations, ‘District 9,’ ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Nine’ with four nominations.
‘Crazy Heart,’ ‘The Princess and the Frog,’ ‘An Education’ and ‘The Young Victoria’ have three nominations each.
‘The Blind Side’, ‘A Serious Man’, ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’, ‘The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus’, ‘Invictus’, ‘The Last Station’, ‘Sherlock Holmes’, ‘The Messenger’ and ‘The White Ribbon’ have two nominations apiece.
The rest like ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ have one entry each.
