The Pentagon has imposed a security lockdown following an incident in the metro station that serves the US military headquarters, a spokesman says.
The Pentagon spokesman would not comment on the incident itself, but television news reports said shots were fired in the station.
"The Pentagon is in lockdown due to an incident at the metro station," said the spokesman.
The Associated Press reports two Pentagon police officers have been shot, and the gunman is also wounded. None of the injuries are reportedly life-threatening.
