A small private plane crashed into a home Virginia today, killing the pilot, while the house owner, who was in the basement at the time, has survived.
Louisa County Sheriff’s Major Donald A. Lowe told the Richmond Times-Dispatch that the pilot died in the cockpit and that the house had been completely demolished.
Lowe said no one inside the home was killed but that a man in the home had gone into his basement just before the plane struck, likely saving his life.
Local NBC 12 reported that the crash occurred around 12.30pm local time and that the plane, believed to be a Cessna, crashed into the home, located on Quiet Lane, near State Route 33 and the Louisa County Airport.
Louisa, is approximately 89km northwest of the state capital Richmond.
