Director Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island" clung to its number-one boxoffice position for the second weekend running, netting 22.2 million dollars from Friday to Sunday, estimated figures showed.

The critically acclaimed police mystery starring Leonardo DiCaprio raked in 75.1 million dollars since its opening weekend in the United States and Canada, according to preliminary data from box office tracking firm Exhibitor Relations.

The latest Bruce Willis police-action comedy flick "Cop Out" opened in second place with 18.6 million dollars. Willis and partner-detective played by Tracy Morgan go through several wacky adventures in this Warner Bros. flix directed by Kevin Smith.

In third place was also newcomer "The Crazies," about the military's containment of a man-made virus that causes permanent insanity and death. Starring Timothy Olyphant, it pulled in 16.5 million dollars in its opening weekend.

In fourth place but still raking in millions, was science-fiction epic "Avatar," the highest-grossing film of all time with more than two billion dollars worldwide. In its 11th week on North American release, Canadian James Cameron's film made another 14 million dollars.

The Oscar-nominated movie is followed by mythological adventure-fantasy "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief," based on Rick Riordan's book and starring Pierce Brosnan and Uma Thurman. The movie earned 9.8 million dollars in its third week.

Romantic ensemble "Valentine's Day," starring Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner and Jessica Alba amongst others scooped 9.5 million dollars in its third week for sixth place.

Seventh place went to romantic tearjerker "Dear John," an adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel, which pulled in five million dollars in its fourth week.

"The Wolfman," a remake of the lycanthrope legend starring Benicio del Toro and Anthony Hopkins, took 4.1 million dollars for eighth place in its third week.

Ninth place was occupied by the Dwayne Johnson comedy "The Tooth Fairy" with 3.5 million dollars in its sixth week.

And bringing up the rear, in 10th place was "Crazy Heart," a low-budget drama about a washed-up country singer struggling to rebuild his career, starring Jeff Bridges in the Oscar-nominated lead role. The film earned 2.5 million dollars in its 11th week.
