A talented young stockbroker jumped to his death with a glass of champagne in his hand after he was accused of sending a prank email.
Anjool Malde, 24, was suspended from his job at Deutsche Bank two days before he died, The Daily Mail reported.
His bosses told him he was being investigated over claims he had left a joke message on a financial careers website under the name of one of the bank's clients. The message had said: "I'm hot, I'm hot."
Mr Malde was asked to leave the office and told not to return until further notice.
Two days later, and just two days shy of his 25th birthday, Mr Malde visited the Coq D'Argent restaurant in the City of London.
He was caught on CCTV calmly ordering a glass of champagne and then leaping to his death from the restaurant's eighth-floor roof garden.
It was the fear that he could lose his job that could have caused him to commit suicide on July 5 last year, an inquest was told yesterday.
Mr Malde, who graduated from Oxford University, seemingly had everything to live for.
His best friend told the inquest that he was an "almost scarily efficient" trader who was convinced he would soon become the youngest vice-president of Deutsche Bank.
Mr Malde was also the co-founder of Alpha Parties, which arranged social events for young graduates.
He had bought a luxury apartment in Spain and had been planning a birthday party there the week after he killed himself.
Deutsche Bank's security chief told the inquest that he had traced the joke message to Mr Malde's computer.
He said that Google email account that sent the message also sent emails to the bank client involved, offering to pay £500 ($875) to charity to "make the matter go away" and saying the sender was "feeling suicidal".
Mr Malde denied sending the messages, claiming that "other people had it in for him" and "people delighted in bringing him down because he was so successful", Deutsche Bank executive Keith Leno told the inquest.
Mr Malde also insisted: "I'm not suicidal."
Mr Malde's friend Irra Khirivskaya, a model, told the inquest that the night before his death they had attended a party, but he was withdrawn and they left early.
Coroner Paul Matthews recorded a verdict of suicide.
