America - home to Jessica Simpson, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Megan Fox – have the hottest people on the planet, according to a British poll.
The United States beat Brazil – where model Gisele Bundchen comes from - into second place and actress Penelope Cruz’s Spain into third in the hottest countries poll published in The Sun.
Australia, home to Victoria's Secret model Miranda Kerr, claimed fourth place while Italy was in fifth followed by model Victoria Silvstedt’s Swedes.
England came in seventh despite 5000 globe-trotting Brits being quizzed for the survey.
India was eighth, France ninth and Canada finished off the top 10.
A spokesman for OnePoll, which carried out the study, said: "America has got a lot on offer and boasts some of the sexiest people on the planet.
"The likes of Jessica Alba, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt all help America's image as a hotbed of good-looking people.
"But with a population of more than 300 million, they do have an unfair advantage."
The firm said England's poor showing was to be expected.
"In fairness, when you think of good looking countries, Sweden, Italy, France and Brazil talent all spring to mind before us lazy, pale Brits."
