For all the warnings about the subject of her ex being taboo during her Australian promotional tour, Rihanna has no problems admitting she "vents" on her latest album Rated R - reports The Daily Telegraph.
Heading into the studio only weeks after she was assaulted by Chris Brown, Rihanna said she used the recording process to tell her side of the story.
"Making this album was a lot of fun I have to say, it was really good for me," she told Daily Telegraph music editor Kathy McCabe.
"The vocal performances definitely were influenced by the emotion, the feeling. I wasn't just singing lines, I was singing every word and every word meant something because it was my story. It was a lot more personal, a lot more real . . .
"I was venting."
She may have to do some physical venting after her three days in Sydney, with the statuesque songstress being greeted with birthday cakes everywhere she goes on her whirlwind chatfest in honour of turning 22 on Saturday.
Even a cocktail party in her honour at the Ivy last night featured some birthday bevvies.
"We already started (celebrating) the minute we got here. We went to the aquarium and went to dinner at Beppis. That was so good, one of the best Italian meals I have ever had."
The fashionable pop star, full name Rihanna Fenty, has managed to look fabulously turned out for every occasion during her two weeks on the road but admitted sometimes her wardrobe could be dangerous.
"At Fashion's Big Night Out (in New York), I wore this spiked bracelet. I saw so many people I knew and everyone I hugged were flinching," she said.
"It took (hugging) four people before I realised what was happening. And then my earring started to stab me on my shoulder. That was dangerous."
