Mchael Jackson's doctor has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter over the death of the pop star.

Dr Conrad Murray, 56, a cardiologist who was with Jackson when the singer died on June 25, entered his plea in Los Angeles Superior Court just hours after he was charged.

He could face up to four years in prison if convicted.

Dr Murray is accused of administering the powerful sleeping medications that killed the 50-year-old Jackson as the singer prepared for a strenuous series of comeback concerts in London.

He appeared in court in a grey suit as Jackson's father, Joe, mother, Katherine, and siblings LaToya, Jermaine, Tito, Jackie and Randy sat behind prosecutors.

His lawyers have said that they want to use old video footage of Jackson to show that the singer had battled a pill addiction for more than 17 years.
