The trial date has been set for two former members of the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation Limited charged with obtaining money by false pretence.
Former FBCL chairman Daniel Whippy and former board member Champak Kapadia appeared before Magistrate Thushara Rajasinghe.
Their lawyers told the court that they had agreed before hand to have the trial set for May 18–20, 2010 subject to the court’s diary.
It is alleged that Whippy and Kapadia procured the offer of an advance of $1.030 million from the Westpac Banking Corporation for FBCL on the basis of a fictitious resolution.
Whippy was replaced by broadcast veteran Yaminiasi Gaunavou as FBCL chairman early last year.
He is currently managing director properties for the Carpenters Group.
The matter has been adjourned to May 18 to begin trial.
