Thieves stole ancient silver coins and other other items from archaeological digs that were displayed at an exhibit called "Antiquities Thieves in Israel," the Haaretz newspaper reported on Thursday.
The robbers made away with a bronze spear, two gold earrings some pottery and coins from the Hellenistic period which authorities had previously recovered from antiquities thieves, the paper said.
The exhibit at the Korin Maman Museum in the coastal city of Ashdod aims at educating the Israeli public on efforts to crack down on antiquities theft.
