Two men have appeared in a Fiji court charged with the murder of their Indian-origin employers whose bodies were found in a pit toilet in the interior of Fiji’s western division at the weekend.
No plea was taken when Ravinesh Vikash of Lautoka and Mohammed Nadeem of Nakasi appeared in the Nasinu Magistrates Court late this afternoon.
Vikash and Nadeem were employees of Rajamanickam Venkatachalam, 36, and Ramakrishnan Amirthalinham, 40, of Chennai, India.
The Indian businessmen lived in a rented flat in Mulomulo Street in Nakasi near Nausori and operated a scrap metal business in the area.
Their bodies were discovered by a man who was digging an old pit latrine in Benai, Koronubu, a remote farming settlement in Ba.
Both men were reported missing in mid-December.
Vikash and Nadeem are charged with two counts each of murder and larceny.
They were told to look for legal representation.
The case was adjourned to February 2.
