Two Fiji men have been arrested in connection with the gruesome find of the bodies of their two Indian-origin employers in a remote farming settlement in Koronubu, Ba.
The bodies of Ram Krishnan, 39 and Raja Manikam, 36, were found packed into a suitcase.
The discovery was made in the settlement of Dinai on Saturday afternoon by a man digging an old pit latrine.
The two men from India operated a scrap metal business in Valelevu outside Suva and were reported missing in December.
They were in Fiji on a work permit. Police did not have details available on how long they had been in the country or which part of India they were from.
Police spokesman Corporal Suliano Tevita said the two men had a third business partner, a local, who had been informed.
Tevita said the Fiji partner was not a suspect.
“We are investigating and we might come to that stage later,” he told FijiLive.
In a similar case two weeks ago, a de-facto couple running a business in Valelevu and who were also reported missing in December were found dead in a pool of blood in their Valelevu flat after police gained access into their residence following complaints of a foul smell by neighbours.
Tevita said there was no apparent connection between the two cases.
