Digicel Fiji says it is in talks with employees at its headquarters in Nadi to finalise separation packages for those who will not be part of the company’s plans to centralise its core operations to Suva.
Chief executive officer Matt Davey said the process will take “a couple of weeks” and will see all departments located at Digicel Fiji’s new headquarters at the Digicel Business Centre in Kadavu House. A smaller regional office in Nadi will continue to serve the western division.
Davey said a consultation process is under way with Nadi-based employees who he said will
all be given the opportunity to apply for positions in Suva.
Successful applicants will receive assistance with the move to Suva while employees who do not take up opportunities in Suva will be provided with “enhanced separation packages”.
“The package we are providing is far in excess of the legal minimum and is being outlined over the next few days,” said a spokesman.
Davey was yet to clarify how many Nadi employees the company will absorb into its relocated Suva headquarters and how many of the existing 100-plus staff in Nadi will be needed to maintain its Pacific operations.
All Fiji staff were informed by Davey on Friday afternoon about the move, decided in December.
Davey said efforts to “reassess our organisational structure” was “particularly relevant in the current challenging economic environment”.
