The five men initially arrested over the discovery of white powder at the yard of a shipping company in Suva have been questioned and released.

They are believed to have claimed a package that contained the white powder namely Contact-NT which is used to manufacture drugs like Cocaine and heroin.

The men were arrested Wednesday afternoon and released Sunday.

Police spokesman Suliano Tevita confirmed that more people are expected to be taken in soon as investigations continue.

It’s understood Fiji police received information from their overseas counterparts on the movement of the package.

More than $8000 in cash were found on the men when they were arrested.

The discovery has renewed concerns within the Police Force that Fiji may be used as a transit point for raw materials
essential for the manufacture of drugs.
