Five-year-old struggles to live

A five-year-old boy remains on life support and is struggling to live after a New Year’s Eve road crash that claimed the life of a 35-year-old man.

Police said the boy was still admitted at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva.

Samisoni Vuanicau Jr died instantly when the taxi he was driving carrying his neighbour and her two children collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle at Laqere on Thursday afternoon.

The woman and her 12-year-old son were admitted to the CWM Hospital and later discharged.

The accident took last year’s road death toll to 47.
