Fiji’s police are investigating the alleged rape of a teenager who claims she was lured away from her parents by her two assailants on the pretext that they would rid her of evil spirits.
Police said the two men allegedly approached her parents on New Year’s Eve claiming that the girl, a 16-year-old Lautoka resident, was possessed by evil spirits.
It is alleged that they took her to a house where the assault is alleged to have taken place.
The two were arrested yesterday.
Meanwhile, a police investigation is continuing into the $20,000 daylight robbery of the Western Union Suva Post Office branch last week.
One man has been arrested and charged with robbery with violence with police confident of making further arrests.
