Police in Fiji are close to laying charges against a man found with $46,000 in cash under his mattress from what police believe was marijuana sales during the Christmas long-weekend.
The 42-year-old man of Nadawa outside Suva is in custody following the raid on his house yesterday.
The man was under police surveillance for months before the raid in which police also confiscated two plastic bags of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
Police assistant spokesman Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri said they believed the money was from marijuana sales during the Christmas weekend.
The leaves have been sent to the Koronivia Research Station for testing.
