Fiji police have arrested four inbound Chinese nationals at the Nadi International Airport and are questioning them for possible links with fake jewellery suppliers in Fiji’s Western Division.
The four were arrested by border control police at the airport this morning after they were found with a large amount of jewellery on them.
“We’re trying to find out if the four had declared with the Customs Department to bring in the jewellery,” said assistant police spokesman Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri.
“They’ve been detained because some Asian nationals in the west are currently under investigation for selling fake jewellery and we’re trying to establish if these four are also involved by supplying fake jewellery to Fiji.”
Sokomuri said people have been selling jewellery at a high price while presenting them as genuine merchandise items.
