Police are trying to ascertain the cause of a fire last night that destroyed part of a school building at Lelean Memorial School in Nausori.
Nausori police confirm that at least two classrooms were destroyed in the fire.
While police have begun investigations, the cost of damage is yet to be determined.
An officer from the Nausori police station told FijiLive that police were dispatched to the scene soon after a call came in at around 10pm.
“When we arrived at the scene, part of that building was engulfed in flames,” the officer said.
“Firefighters did what they could and luckily the fire did not spread to other buildings,” he added.
Police investigations continue.
