Members of the Fiji Police Force were today commended for their loyalty despite criticism and changes in the organization.
Police Commissioner Esala Teleni was chief guest at the annual medal parade at Nasova grounds in Suva this morning.
The Force he said, will continue to face changes which are expected to provide a lot of challenges to the officers on the ground.
“I would like to thank every officer not only in here in this parade but to others that are serving around Fiji and other parts of the world for their commitment to the Force,” Teleni said while addressing more than 600 officers and guests.
“We’ve gone through a lot of changes and criticism but you’ve continued to put your body on the line not for the force but for the people of Fiji.
“We will continue to go through transformation in the New Year and we’ll need your patience and understanding.”
He added that despite the lack of resources officers will need to challenge themselves to keep up with the changes locally and globally.
“We don’t have sufficient resources but whichever areas you’re serving it is your responsibility to continue to fulfill the ultimate objective of the Fiji Police Force.”
A total of 148 Police Officers were awarded long service medals for their commitment to the Force.
