Parts of Suva are without electricity while banks and shops have closed their doors as strong winds pelt most parts of Fiji.
The power black out came at around 2pm as Tropical Cyclone Mick closes in on Fiji. Water disruptions are expected later in the day as water pumps would be inoperable without electricity.
Earlier today, the Fiji Electricity Authority said they would shut power supply if the weather worsened.
Meanwhile, large ships serving the outer islands of Rotuma and Vanua Levu have been stopped until further notice.
Banks have also closed and workers sent home while only a few shops remain open.
Tropical Cyclone Mick was situated off the west coast of the main island Viti Levu at noon today and is expected to pass over the country later tomorrow.
The cyclone has been upgraded to category 2.
