Six lawyers, including the head of the Fiji Law Society, appeared before the Independent Legal Services Commission today over allegations of professional misconduct.

FLS President Dorsami Naidu appeared in person. He indicated to Commissioner John Connors, a former judge of the Fiji High Court, that he would like to engage a counsel for his case.

The hearing of his case has been set for five days from April 19, 2010.

Also appearing before the commission were Sheik Hussein Shah, Nilesh Lajendra, Akuila Naco and Haroon Ali Shah.

Their cases will also be heard early next year.

Meanwhile, lawyer Iqbal Khan made an application to for the Commissioner to disqualify himself from hearing his case.

The Commission will rule on the application this Friday.

Khan’s case is set for a five-day hearing beginning on May 3, 2010.
