Ministry of Health spokesperson Iliesa Tora has guaranteed employment for students graduating with the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree.
57 students graduated with the MBBS degree and Tora said that the 37 local students would fill vacancies within the Ministry while the remaining 20 student from other Pacific countries would return to their respective countries.
“The Ministry has been faced with doctor shortage and the new graduates will fill in the positions,” Tora after the graduation ceremony at the Tattersals Leisure Centre in Suva yesterday.
Close to 300 students from across the region graduated from the Fiji School of Medicine this year and it would be the last for institute as it will be part of the Fiji National University next year.
