Fiji’s teachers have been warned to register before the beginning of the new school year or risk losing their jobs.
The stern message from the Ministry of Education comes as schools around the country end the academic year today.
School head teachers and principals have been instructed to ensure registration of their teaching staff before January 25, 2010.
Teachers are required to pay annual registration fees through a Government revenue collector - $30 for existing teachers and $40 for newly appointed teachers in 2010.
“No unregistered teacher is allowed to enter any classroom,” said Education Minister Filipe Bole.
