Christmas came early for a 50-year-old Suva housewife who became the fifth winner in a series of draws for $5000 cash prizes in a Vodafone-sponsored promotion at last week’s Miss South Pacific Pageant.
Debra Qaiyum was speechless when she was notified after the draw that took place during the crowning of the Miss South Pacific at Suva’s Albert Park on Saturday night.
Qaiyum who lives with her retired husband at Namadi Heights texted PBS (Pacific Builders Solution) to 888 seven times.
“I thought that it was joke when someone called to tell me that I had won $5000 cash,” Qaiyum told FijiLive during the prize presentation at Civic Centre yesterday.
“I would like to thank the sponsors for drawing out my name and I’m planning to use this money when I travel overseas for Christmas.”
Qaiyum was the fifth winner of the $5000 cash prize.
