People have been urged to make use of the longer daylight available to them now, as Fiji nears the end of its first day under Daylight Savings.
Permanent Secretary for Information Major Neumi Leweni said this was the intention of putting Fiji under daylight savings time.
“People can use this time to be with their families and also to use it wisely. Farmers will have more time to farm and to anyone who wishes to conduct their activities, this will allow them to have more daylight to do whatever they want to do,” Leweni said.
Fiji officially began daylight savings time at 2AM Fiji Time this morning, reviving a concept last practiced here in 2000.
The new time schedule will officially end at 3AM on Sunday, April 25, 2010.
