Government has allocated $15 million to begin its land reform program next year.
A taskforce had already begun work on facilitating the utilisation of idle land for productive use, Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said during his 2010 Budget address today.
“Negotiations with key stakeholders have commenced.”
“We plan to have the first lots of land available on new and attractive terms conditions for both leasors and leasees by the end of the first quarter of 2010.”
More details of where these lots would be and the extent of idle land being made available were not immediately available.
