A Fiji man who is alleged to have impersonated a policeman to obtain the early release of a 14-year-old girl from school yesterday has been charged with her rape.
Police spokesman West Wame Bautolu said man, in his mid-20s, will appear in court today.
Bautolu said the girl was allegedly abducted on her way home by the man who on Monday impersonated a policeman and approached the head teacher to get the girl released early from school.
The man was turned away from school.
Bautolu said the man is then alleged to have waited until the end of the school day and then abducted the victim while she was on her way home.
“He abused and raped the girl and left her," he told FijiLive.
In another case, police are looking for a man who impersonated a policeman and allegedly raped a young woman and stole a truck.
Bautolu said the impersonator is known to police and is wanted on a warrant.
The woman reported to police this week that she had been raped by a man who entered a construction company office dressed as a policeman.
Bautolu said the suspect also stole cash, mobile phones and the woman's bank cards.
The alleged rape took place after he asked the woman to guide him to the company yard where he forced her into a freezer truck and raped her.
He then made off in that truck.
