Westpac Fiji’s general manager John Cashmore is leaving Fiji after almost three years on the job.
In announcing his departure, Cashmore said he was heading back to Australia where he will continue his career with the bank.
“My wife, Angie, and I will take wonderful memories of our near three years here in Fiji,” he said.
During his term in Fiji, Cashmore steered Westpac through what he believes were challenging and exciting times.
Westpac underwent some major changes with three new branches at Port Denarau, MHCC and Nakasi.
The Westpac Labasa branch received a million dollar upgrade as well as Westpac’s Nadi branch, which was forced to close for a short time earlier in the year because of floods.
Four other Westpac branches in Namaka, Savusavu, Rakiraki and Nausori were refurbishments. Eight new ATMs were installed and two more were upgraded at various high-density areas around Fiji.
“More and more we’re working at putting the customer at the centre of everything we do. The way we design our branches has changed to accommodate a more customer-friendly atmosphere with Customer Service Managers and team members out in the customer space to provide a more personalised service,” Cashmore said.
“Internet and Telephone Banking kiosks are being installed in almost all branches so customers are free to access their accounts and do their banking in ways that are convenient to them. Business customers too began receiving more personalised and convenient service with the launch of Westpac’s innovative Door to Door International Banking Service, which provides international services to businesses in Suva and in the West. The recent launch of the eSaver and Business Max-i Direct accounts were a first for Fiji and proving very popular with our customers.”
Cashmore also served as president of the Association of Banks in Fiji.
