It was a timely boost to Fiji businessman Joseph Nair’s plans to spend Christmas in New Zealand.
He was the winner at Albert Park in Suva last night of a $5000 cash prize, the fourth in series of cash prizes in a Vodafone sponsored text promotion as part of the 2009 Miss South Pacific Pageant.
The 58-year-old managing director of DGY Limited said he did not expect to win.
Nair who lives in Narere with his wife said the youngest of his three sons texted PBS (Pacific Builders Solutions, who are sponsors of the pageant) to 888 twice only to find out that luck was on his side.
“I did not expect to win because I knew my chances were less because I texted twice,” Nair told FijiLive.
“This is the first time I’ve won such a promotion and I’m happy, I’ve lodged my visa to go to New Zealand for Christmas so I’m going to spend the money there for my Christmas shopping,” he added.
The final $5000 cash prize will be drawn this Saturday, to coincide with the draw for the major prize of a $75,000 two-bedroom house.
FijiLive is the online sponsor for the 2009 MSPP which ends this Saturday.
