Irish brewer Guinness has issued the latest challenge to beer companies as it launches its multi-million dollar “World” campaign with ads shot in Fiji.
The “big-ad”, which was shot last December on Beachcomber Island, outside Lautoka City, features the beer’s iconic tag line “good things come to those who wait” replacing “bring it to life”, which was creatively rendered by the set designer from the movie Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
The commercial features an underwater set that took three months to create, and Fiji Audio Visual Commission executive Jone Tikoca confirmed with FijiLive that the crew spent four days in Fiji, filming the commercial.
“Approximately $150,000 was spent in Fiji for the commercial alone and that’s apart from the other services utilized,” Tikoca said.
“Seven locals were hired for the commercial - five divers, a location guide and an assistant. Eight crews are behind the shooting of this commercial, five were from New Zealanders and the rest were from the UK.”
The FAVC is expecting more television projects and filming to be done in Fiji next year.
