This evening’s program culminates with the Bogi Ni Taukei aptly known as the Fiji Night and will also be the first public introduction of the 13 contestants vying for the prestigious title.
Events organizing committee chairman Dhansukh Lal Bhika at the opening said that “Albert Park is the place to be.”
“This event will not be possible without the support of our sponsors and I would like to thank them for their support during this tough economical time,” said Bhika.
“As you can see the people of Suva has been hard at work to turn Albert Park into a mini South Pacific village from Pacific beauties to traditional food, as well as contemporary arts and music.”
According to Bhika the Fiji government has also announced a 200 percent tax rebate to any sponsor who will provide financial assistance to the Pageant.
He added this initiative by the Fiji Government is a timely incentive.
“I am also pleased to announce that the Fiji Government is offering a 200% tax rebate to any sponsor of the Pacific Building Systems Miss South Pacific Pageant and I would like to thank them for this.”
Meanwhile the 2009 South Pacific pageant will continue at Albert Park tomorrow with a church service and choir competition.
