It’s a story of Christmas coming early for a 33-year-old Fiji policeman who is the third winner in a series of draws for $5000 cash prizes in a Vodafone sponsored promotion for this month’s Miss South Pacific Pageant.

Constable Ravin Chand was speechless when he was notified soon after the draw took place at Suva’s Albert Park last night.

Chand who lives with his wife and son in Siberia settlement outside Labasa texted PBS (Pacific Builders Solutions) to 888 between 20 to 30 times with hopes of winning $10 worth of free talk time.

“I didn’t expect to win such a big prize because I was texting for the free air time,” Chand told FijiLive.

“I’m thankful to Vodafone and PBS for drawing out my name, now I have something to look forward to since Christmas is just a month away.”

“I’m planning to invest the money if not then I want to start my business or a poultry farm but I still haven’t made up my mind.”

Chand is the third winner of the $5000 cash prize, for which there will be two more draws including the final one on November 24 where a winner will also be drawn for a $75, 000 two bedroom house.

PBS is the official sponsor of the 2009 Miss South Pacific Pageant.

FijiLive is the online sponsor for the week long event which kicks off this Saturday.
