Fiji police are investigating the death of an American tourist hit by a speed boat while snorkeling near a resort in the country’s north.
The accident happened in waters off Qamea Island Resort in the province of Cakaudrove on Friday afternoon when a speed boat is believed to have hit the tourist.
Police said resort officials would be interviewed while the boat operator was in police custody in Taveuni.
The tourist’s identity has not been disclosed.
