Thirteen people were killed Thursday after a tour bus veered off a bridge and plunged into the sea in east China's Shandong province, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
A total of 22 people, including the driver, were in the vehicle when it fell off the cross-sea bridge at 2:15 pm (0615 GMT) in Weihai City, rescue services said, according to Xinhua.
The bodies of the victims had been recovered, the report said, adding that all the passengers were from southern Guangdong province.
The nine survivors were receiving hospital treatment. Two were severely injured while the others were in a stable condition.
Slippery road conditions were believed to be the cause of the accident after which more than 200 people, including police officers and fishermen, took part in rescue efforts.
China's roads are among the most dangerous in the world, with nearly 73,500 people dying in road accidents last year, or just over 200 fatalities per day, according to police statistics.
