Fiji police have questioned Timoci Lolohea, the recruiter alleged to have absconded to the Middle East with millions of dollars collected from local job seekers.

Lolohea is understood to have returned to his home in Suva this year after four years abroad.

Deputy Director of Police Operations, Superintendent Erami Raibe told FijiLive that the director of Meridian Services was recently taken in for questioning.

“He was questioned for a few cases and later released,” said Raibe, adding that a special Police taskforce set up to investigate Lolohea are still receiving complaints “from all around the country”.

He said some of the complaints date back to 2005.

Most of the complainants want a refund and Lolohea punished for allegedly deceiving them.

Lolohea’s company had promised jobs in Kuwait for about 20,000 locals who paid deposits to secure their places.

Fiji Director of Immigration Major Nemani Vuniwaqa said Lolohea has been put on a watch-list and is not permitted to leave the country.
