Two people have been brought to Suva from Beqa Island and are expected to be charged with the murder of a 4-year-old girl later today.
Deputy Director Police Operations SP Erame Raibe told Fijlive the man and a woman were arrested at the weekend and brought to Suva yesterday.
“They are relatives of the victim and are now in police custody,” he said.
The body of the girl was found floating in the sea near her village late September.
Villagers initially thought the girl had drowned until a post mortem examination showed that she was strangled.
Police confirm there is tension in the village.
